About PaywallRemover

PaywallRemover brings reading options into one place. Paste an article link, run the checks, and compare the available options.

What the tool does

We look for existing public archive copies and readable text, including requests without running page scripts and a separate Googlebot user-agent attempt. We also provide external readers, a translation route, public-copy searches and browser guides.

Options always appear in a fixed order: PrintFriendly, clean reader, Wayback, Archive.today, Jina, Googlebot, Google Translate, Google/Bing searches, smry, Ghostarchive, Arquivo.pt, open-access research, publisher sources, and Manual Options last under EXTRA. Confidence never changes this display order. Try Most Likely Options uses the check results to select the strongest available candidates for bulk opening. Try All Options attempts every available route, skipping confirmed DNS failures. Browsers may block bulk tab opening; direct links remain available. Manual Options combines browser reading modes and temporary JavaScript instructions in one guide; it does not change browser settings automatically.

Options are numbered to keep the page simple. Hover, focus or open an option's information button to see the method and its destination. Confidence labels describe the evidence available, not guaranteed access or measured success percentages.

Research and publisher links

Open-access research lookup recognizes direct arXiv article links by their identifiers. For DOI lookup, it checks a DOI found in the URL or page metadata against an exact DOI record marked open access in Europe PMC. Neither route checks the article version or completeness. Coverage is limited: many scholarly articles are not indexed by Europe PMC, and no result does not rule out a public copy elsewhere. No account, API key or installation is needed.

Publisher discovery checks print and RSS/Atom links actually advertised on the article page. Where possible, it matches an exact article entry in a feed. Feeds may contain only summaries, and print pages may still require access. These discovery options return links, not copied articles, and a link alone does not confirm full-text access.

Short links are expanded before checking options where possible. The input updates to the resolved article URL and shows a notice; if expansion fails, the original link remains available.

What we value

We do not host a library of copied articles. Text is processed temporarily. Our clean reader can display text delivered by a public page without returning its original scripts or markup. The application does not persist article text. Limited operational statistics are stored as daily records for up to 30 days; see the Privacy policy.

Support the original story

Newsrooms and independent writers depend on their readers. If you return regularly to a publication, a subscription is a good way to support its work.

Read our Privacy policy and Terms of use.
