Common questions about PaywallRemover.
No. We bring together archives, text readers, translation, public-copy searches and browser methods. Availability depends on the publisher and the copies that exist. We cannot guarantee access to every article or retrieve subscriber text the publisher does not deliver.
High Chance means a checked page contains substantial article-like text without an obvious paywall message. Medium Chance means an archive or external reader returned a candidate, but completeness is unverified. Low Chance means no useful copy was found or an access restriction was detected. Unknown means we could not verify the route. These are estimates, not measured success percentages.
So you can start with the strongest available route without choosing a service first. The four main options favor different approaches. No. The clean reader fetches initial HTML without running scripts, and the Googlebot reader makes a separate request with a Googlebot user-agent header. Neither changes your browser or makes the request a verified Google crawl. More also includes manual JavaScript and built-in browser reader guides.
PaywallRemover is free to use and needs no account or installation. External services set their own terms and may require an account, a browser check or a subscription.
Links and extracted text are processed temporarily and are not saved as reading history. Requested checks send the URL to publishers or external providers. Our local reader removes the source link from its address bar before requesting text. We do not run first-party analytics. See our Privacy page for DNS, hosting logs, preferences and external services.
Yes. After entering a URL, choose “Save a new archive copy”. You decide whether to submit it to Wayback Machine or Archive.today. We never automatically create a snapshot. Archives can only save content they can access.
Advertising can help cover the cost of keeping this tool free. Ads are separated from reading controls and are only enabled after account and privacy configuration. Using an option never requires clicking an advertisement.
